Speech at the Presentation of the Professor Alice Ndu Memorial Scholarship Awards, Office of the Vice Chancellor, Nnamdi Azikiwe University, Awka
By The Chairman, Ark Rural And Educational Trust, Mr. Emeka Ndu
Vice Chancellor, Deputy Vice Chancellor, members of the academic community, distinguished guests, dear students, ladies and gentlemen,
It is both a privilege and a moment of deep reflection to stand before you today as we honour the memory of a remarkable scholar, educator, and woman—Professor Alice Ndu, who i have the privilege of being her son.

Professor Alice Ndu was not only a towering academic in the field of Educational Administration but also a passionate mentor whose impact extended far beyond the lecture halls. Her legacy is one of excellence, integrity, and a lifelong commitment to nurturing young minds. Till today, I still get testimonials from her former students, some.of who i have never had the opportunity to meet.
She was indeed a passionate believer in female education and its potential to unleash greatness in society. These awards are a small token to remember her contributions to female education in an era when female education was not a favourite issue for a lot of parents.
Today, through the Professor Alice Ndu Memorial Scholarships, we take a small yet meaningful step in preserving that legacy. These awards are not just a tribute to her name, but a living investment in the kind of future she worked tirelessly to shape—one where potential is not wasted, where knowledge uplifts, and where education transforms lives.
To the scholarship recipients: you are the embodiment of the values Professor Ndu championed—discipline, academic curiosity, and character. Wear this honour with pride, but also with humility and responsibility. Let it propel you to even greater heights.
To the University, we express our gratitude for the opportunity to collaborate in this initiative. And to the Vice Chancellor and the faculty here today, thank you for your continued support in ensuring that the flame Professor Alice Ndu lit continues to shine brightly in this great institution.
May her memory remain a blessing, and may her work live on in every student touched by her legacy.
Thank you and God bless you all
